Night In With: Daise Bedolla
Spend Friday night at home with Into The Gloss editor Daise Bedolla.
welcome to night in with, a series spotlighting friends of lazy jamie and their ideal friday night at home. itās like youāre walking through a neighborhood and see a fabulous person through their apartment window, but you actually get to stop and find out who they are and what theyāre up to (in a totally non-creepy way!).
is a beauty editor and producer at Into The Gloss, freelance consultant, and Substack writer (I Just Want to Talk is a must-read). Sheās previously worked at Vogue, Harperās Bazaar, The Cut, and Instagramāso pretty much every cool girl news source.
I became connected with Daise last year when she featured lazy jamie in ITGās holiday gift guide. To me, Daise is a connectorāof good people, places and things. Sheās introduced me to new friends (hi
!), and sheās the first person I text when I need any sort of beauty recommendation in NYC.As an editor, Daise has a full schedule, so her Friday nights are extra sacred. Letās see how she does it:
Are you alone tonight or with family/friends?
Iām privileged in that I get to attend so many fun events for work throughout the week, but between them, meetings, and you know, doing actual work, by the time Friday rolls around, I want to be entirely alone. I always say that Iām an extroverted introvertāIām good at being social when I need to but then I need an entire afternoon and evening alone to sit in silence (even though I Just Want To Talkā¦) and do nothingāor at the very least very little. It takes someone or something very special to get me to leave my apartment on Fridays.
Having said all of the above, I have a few friends that I feel wholly comfortable sitting on the couch for parallel play (one of my favorite terms!)āliterally sitting on the couch together, watching a show or listening to music and scrolling on our phones, and maybe saying a word to each other every once in a while. I always say that I want to bring back casual hangs. Why does every plan have to require an activity these days? Why canāt we sit and just enjoy each otherās presence? Wasnāt that the best part of collegeāwhen youād go over to your friendās dorm and sit on their bed and say nothing? More casual hangs in 2025! Thatās my platform.
Where in your home are you?
Iām either sitting on my couch, sprawling on my bed, or laying on the floorāmy favorite. My bed is especially cozyāI have a light blue waffle comforter my sister gave me for my birthday and my pillows (from Ostermoor) are in Slip silk pillow cases, which I travel with by the way!
What are you wearing?
Pajama sets foreverābonus points if theyāre pointelle, which Iām obsessed with. I come home and immediately change outside of my outside clothesāNew York is dirty! Cou Cou makes some of my favorite piecesāI love to hang out in my shorts and long cami; English Rose and French Blue are my favorite colors. Glossier made one of my favorite tees ever, but itās no longer on sale because it was a limited edition made for the Las Vegas store (see here). Itās so incredibly comfy and soft, and the little rhinestonesāI keep saying itās bedazzledāmake me feel like Paris Hilton in the early aughtsāthatās hot. (There are a few for sale on Ebay and Depop if you want to hunt one down.)
Whatās your drink of choice?
WATER! Sometimes I have GhiaāI especially love sumac & chili and lime & salt and Le Fizzābut honestly, I donāt have too much on handā¦
What's your go-to dinner? Are you cooking or ordering in? Favorite takeout?
So sorry, but I refuse to cook on Fridays. A strange thing about me is that I mostly donāt believe in delivery, meaning that if I want something enough, I figure I can walk to itāitās New York City, baby! That means I end up grabbing takeout mostly from places around me, but of course, I make exceptionsāmostly if Iām sick but also for Thai Diner. Itās one of my favorite spots in generalāif you eat there, order the disco fries, crispy eggplant maytinee, khao soi, and Uncle Boonās coconut sundae for dessert. And for delivery, you just canāt beat their phat thai with prawns. Flavor! Texture! It has everything.
What are you watching? Or listening to/reading?
At some point throughout the night, all of these will be done:
Iāll watch a show or a movieāI just started the new season of You and Iām tryingāemphasis on tryingāto get into Severance. Some movies on my watchlist: Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (Iām catching up on Angelina Jolieās lore), I Know What You Did Last Summer (a classic, Iāve been told), The Worst Person in the World (itās been on my list forever), and Mickey17 (though I may need find a movie theater for this one)
Iāll dance around my apartmentāI believe everyone should do this a few minutes every day and not just on Friday. May I suggest Charli XCXās Ibiza boiler room set?
Iāll tidy up my room and apartment
Iāll read a few chapters of a bookāright now, itās All Fours by Miranda July
Iāll do a face maskāeither Danuceraās Master Mask or Activistās MÄnuka Honey Mask
Whatās your night-in guilty pleasure?
This is probably annoying to hear, but I donāt believe in guilty pleasures! Enjoy what you likeālife is short. That said⦠this is probably the space where I should mention that Iāve definitely done (extensive) Love Island marathons where my brain is so lifeless that it should probably be checkedāand thatās prompted me to think that I should use my time to watch something more āproductiveāābut itās one of very few shows that gets my hyperactive brain to sloooooow down. Why should I feel guilty about that?
What's the biggest difference between your Friday night now versus five years ago?
Honestly, Iāve always been a homebody. My Friday nights have always looked like some sort of variation of this⦠At least I can say Iām consistent?
Whatās a night in or bedtime non-negotiable?
My Currentbody series 2 LED mask, Koba hand cream, Dr. Dana cuticle oil, a full bottleāmineās from Owalaāof water next to my bed. I have an old silk sleep mask from a brand called Good Side thatās years old, but I love it so muchāeven though itās not as silky anymore from daily useābecause the straps are extra wide so it doesnāt pinch and it truly covers any and all light. Oh, and my room needs to be below 70 degrees, ideally a cool 67!
What time are you going to bed, and do you have any sleep hacks?
The media trained answer is that Iāve programmed my Hatch to start prompting me to sleep at 11pm so I can read for half an hour. After that, it dims down to a soft red light for another 30 minutes where Iād ideally lie in bed and drift off to sleep. Thatās followed by two hours of rain soundsāI like to fall asleep to rain but I donāt like listening to it the whole night. But the real answer is that I scroll on my phone until I fall asleep⦠Revenge bedtime procrastination? I know her well.
