Answering your most-asked questions about my Internet-famous blue bathroom
Including the number one question, where I got my blue tiles.
You don’t know me, but you’ve probably seen my bathroom.
My blue tiles have racked up 2.9M views and 198K likes on a single Instagram post, been screenshot and Pinned more times than I can track, and sparked polarizing reactions on Twitter from around the world.
For a bathroom with such a big presence, the way it came to be was really quite simple. The other bathrooms in our home are also monochromatic tile. I wanted this one to reflect the spirit of the house with an updated shape and color that felt current yet timeless.
For color inspiration, I was clearly taken with Yves Klein Blue, a decision that would not only launch a million of my TikTok posts, but also inform the hero color that you see in lazy jamie branding and will soon see in our upcoming TV tray launch.
What did it look like before?

I scoured my Photos app and the photo at left is the best before example that I have, with the photo at right (taken immediately after the renovation) for comparison. You see that the bathroom was a lighter, more washed out shade of blue, with the small square glass tiles that defined the ‘90s. The bathroom hadn’t been updated since, and many of the fixtures needed to be replaced, requiring most of the tiles to be ripped out anyway.
Where did you get your blue tiles?
At this point, I have sent them so much traffic that I really should be getting a kickback, but I’ll be generous and tell you anyway in the name of good design. The tiles are the 2x4” G22 Opal Blue from Heath Ceramics. There is a natural variation to the glaze which creates a complexity and richness when combined en masse. If you can’t commit to a whole blue bathroom renovation, Heath makes dinnerware in this same color, called Moonstone. I have it in the cereal bowls and dinner plates.
Where did you get your vanity?
The answer to this is less satisfying. As you can see from the “before” in my before-and-after, the vanity is original to the house, which was completed in 1998, and is therefore vintage by TikTok standards. During the renovation, we sanded down the stone countertop to get it like new. The wood laminate facade required no touchup—I love the way it pops against the bright cobalt. I’ve found a similar version of the vanity here.
Misc. grab bag
No, the tiles aren’t more slippery or harder to clean than any other tiles, yes, the bathtub is actually comfortable because you put water in it to bathe, and no, I don’t think it looks like a high school gym locker room, but if it did it’d be an incredibly chic school.
